TAKING ON EXISTING DESIGNS
RGE are able to take on projects that have previously been started with other design agencies or in-house design teams, and apply our expertise to adapt these existing designs in order to make them suitable for injection moulding.
Our team of experienced designers often visit our clients to get a feel for their style by looking at any products they have previously made, staying true to the elements and motifs that may be carried through the range. Meeting the highest quality and functionality expectations is important to us, whilst confirming that the final design remains true to the client’s initial vision.
3D MODELLING
With a range of the latest design software, RGE mostly work with XT and STEP CAD files when creating 3D renderings. Using these programmes allows us to identify the geometry, colour, and other details of 3D models in order to assess the construction, components and structural elements of any part or product.
Our design team also use software to test each design when considering its viability for the injection moulding process, and make changes and updates to any design before tooling is made.
PRODUCT VIABILITY
When designing products for the injection moulding process, it is important to understand the role of each part within the product to ensure that the functionality of all aspects work as expected when moulded.
Sometimes our design team suggest changes to initial designs to allow for better movement capabilities, or consider different materials that better withstand heat, for example. These changes are made to ensure that the finalised designs are viable for the plastic injection moulding process.
DESIGNING WITH RECYCLED MATERIALS
RGE currently work with a range of different plastics, including recycled plastics, which we use to produce many of our own products.
When designing a product that will be moulded from recycled materials, additional factors must be considered as recycled plastics are naturally weaker than their virgin plastic counterparts.
Design alterations must therefore be made to maximise strength. We push towards sustainability, and have an onsite recycling facility producing our own recycled plastics. Find out more.
