CIRCULAR PLASTICS
A SUSTAINABLE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
A SUSTAINABLE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
WHAT ARE CIRCULAR PLASTICS?
Creating a circular economy for plastics means that materials constantly flow around a closed loop system, rather than being used once and then discarded. This means simultaneously keeping the value of plastic in the economy without leakage into the natural environment.
Plastic products can be recycled again and again after use, creating an endless circle of reusing the same material to create new products, keeping plastic out of landfill and preventing the need to create more virgin plastics.
Original product is made from virgin plastics
Recycled at the end of its life
Used to create a new product, before being recycled again in a circular economy
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS
Moulding using recycled material provides even more benefits for the environment than simply using recyclable virgin plastics:
- Prevents ocean pollution and landfills caused as a result of poor management of plastic end of life.
- Reduces the depletion of fossil fuels by removing the need to extract new, raw materials from the earth.
- Reduces the carbon footprint associated with plastic production, consuming less energy than producing new, virgin polymers.
- Less harmful to humans and animals, keeping micro plastics out of the environment.
- Reduces the emission of heat-trapped gases into the atmosphere, preventing the addition of more rubbish to landfills.
